Cute hacked baby overalls!
My son’s overalls got wrecked in the wash when on of the hooks got stuck in the drum during the spin cycle and the strap tore off. There wasn’t enough salvageable denim to just reattach the hook, so I used some striped fabric scraps as a bridge. It’s not my favorite hack, but they turned out cute enough. And, since he’ll soon outgrow these overalls, I didn’t spend a lot of time on them (probably less than 30 minutes).
Ripped denim – my washing machine is tough.
Honestly, he’ll probably wear these overalls only a few more times. If I was more concerned about making them last longer, I probably would have put more thought into it, but I kind of just wanted to get it over with.
Slap it on the sewing machine – straight stitch, zig zag stitch, forward, reverse, and done!
I made a tube of the striped fabric and tucked the ends of the denim into it. Then I just straight and zig zag stitched to secure the two fabrics together and I was done.
A rough edge – my favorite! (because it’s quick & easy)
Even if it’s not the most spectacular, this hack is still a good example of how to fix or add a bit of length to overalls if you need to do so. I hope you enjoy it!
